Baptism is one of the two Sacraments Jesus instituted during his time among us on earth. It is THE principal sacrament of welcome and inclusion in the Church— & is the gateway into all the other Christian experiences. As such, it is JOYFUL and is a community event (think party, or something so great in your life and the life of your family that you are driven to SHARE it). So it is no surprise that we strive to celebrate baptisms within the gathering of the congregation whenever possible.
Bishop Knisely baptizes Harper Lofaro on Crescent Beach.
The church selects four days a year to offer baptisms to candidates, both infant and adult. Those festival days are: The The Great Vigil of Easter, The Feast of Pentecost, All Saint’s Sunday and the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. Contact our Vicar for details, instructions about sponsors or Godparents, and to make arrangements. She may be able to administer the Sacrament on other days to accommodate special circumstances.
Within our resort setting candidates have been baptised in various settings (Church being the first choice), including the ocean (See Bishop Knisely, pictured here). We administer the sacrament by pouring, sprinkling, or immersion.
